AFI to Release New Album, ‘Bodies,’ in June; Stream Two New Songs

AFI will release their 11th studio album, “Bodies,” in June, featuring 11 new tracks
After several months of teasing, AFI have finally announced details for their 11th studio album, “Bodies.” The new collection, which marks the band’s follow-up to 2017’s “AFI,” will arrive on June 11 via Rise Records.
“Bodies” will feature the previously released tracks “Twisted Tongues” and “Escape from Los Angeles,” plus a handful of additional original songs. In advance of the new album, AFI have released two more album cuts, “Looking Tragic” and “Begging for Trouble,” which are available now via the usual outlets.
“Bodies” is available for pre-order via AFI’s merch store or Amazon, and “Looking Tragic” and “Begging for Trouble” are also available as a seven-inch vinyl set. In other news, last year, Davey Havok and Jade Puget from AFI released a new album with their synth-based side-project, Blaqk Audio, called “Beneath the Black Palms.” Drummer Adam Carson and bass player Hunter Burgan round out AFI’s longtime lineup.
AFI got their start in the early-1990s, crafting an explosive blend of East Bay hardcore and punk in their early days with albums such as 1996’s “Very Proud of Ya” and 1997’s “Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes.” The band’s sound evolved over the years, as they added gothic and horror punk elements to their music. The band’s 2003 release, “Sing the Sorrow,” has been certified Platinum by the RIAA and is AFI’s best-selling release to date, buoyed by the singles “Girl’s Not Grey,” “The Leaving Song Pt. II” and “”Silver and Cold.”
AFI’s upcoming album was named one of Audio Ink Radio’s 30 most anticipated albums of 2021 in rock and metal.
