Elton John says he’s been working on a little something with the metal men of Metallica for an upcoming project

Musician collaborations are all the rage these days, and there’s a big one brewing between one of the biggest metal bands and one of the most celebrated pop stars in the world. During a new episode his Rocket Hour show on Apple Music, Elton John revealed that he’s been working on “something” with the metal men of Metallica.

“I’ve just done something with Metallica,” John said on the show (transcribed by Blabbermouth), also stating that he’s been in the mood to collaborate lately.

“During this lockdown period, I’ve been working with Gorillaz and people like that,” he continued. “I haven’t been doing any Elton stuff, but I’ve been doing great stuff with other people.”

John didn’t discuss much more about the collaboration, but it’s likely he’s referring to Miley Cyrus’ upcoming Metallica covers album project. The album will reportedly include a cover of “Nothing Else Matters” with John, plus Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and cellist Yo-Yo Ma, as well as a collection of other Metallica songs.

John has been in the collaborating spirit the past few years, even before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic it and forced artists to try different things while touring was halted. John did a guest appearance on the title track of Ozzy Osbourne’s 2020 solo album, “Ordinary Man.”
