Mudvayne to Reunite for String of U.S. Music Festivals

Nu-metal darlings Mudvayne will reunite for the first time in more than a decade for four fall U.S. music festivals

Nu-metal fans rejoice, as one of the genre’s biggest players, Mudvayne, is officially back. The hard-hitting nu-metal group has announced they will reunite to perform at four U.S. festivals this fall: Inkcarceration in Mansfield, Ohio; Louder than Life in Louisville, Kentucky; Aftershock in Sacramento, California; and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The band, which has been on hiatus since 2010, has been rumored to be in talks to reunite since last year. Interviews with various band members have pointed to an impending reunion, but the pandemic slowed things down.

Danny Wimmer – who owns Danny Wimmer Presents, the company that produces those four festivals – is the one who finally got Mudvayne in talks to reunite.

“In our fan surveys, Mudvayne has consistently been one of the most requested bands — even though they weren’t an active band!” Wimmer said in a statement.

As Wimmer describes, he has been in contact with the Mudvayne members for several years about a reunion. Finally, they were willing to meet with him. That meeting, reportedly, marked the first time the guys of Mudvayne had been all together in the same room together in a decade.

“[We] pleaded our case for why the time was right for this to happen,” Wimmer said. “We were hoping to announce this in 2020, we’re fortunate enough to be able to do it in 2021, and DWP is super pumped to have Mudvayne exclusively at all four of our festivals this year.”

Mudvayne has released five studio albums to date, their latest being a 2009 self-titled release. The band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2021, as frontman Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett focused on their side band, Hellyeah. Mudvayne currently features Gray, Tribbett, drummer Matthew McDonough and bass player Ryan Martinie. All of the band’s original members are on board for the reunion.
