L.A. Rats put a rock spin on the county classic “I’ve Been Everywhere”
The term supergroup is often overused, but the newest supergroup on the rock block, L.A. Rats, is deserving of the title. The band features a slate of big names: Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue, Rob Zombie, John 5 of Zombie and Marilyn Manson’s band and Tommy Clufetos of Ozzy Osbourne’s band and Black Sabbath.
As their debut single, L.A. Rats have unleashed a cover of the country classic “I’ve Been Everywhere.” The song appears on the soundtrack for the new Netflix movie “The Ice Road,” which features Liam Neeson. Covering a country song is a unquie choice for a bunch of rockers, but Sixx says it was a natural fit.
“We all grew up thinking great bands don’t follow the rules or drive the speed limit,” Sixx said in a statement. “When I called Rob up, he said, ‘I’ve always loved Johnny Cash, and I’ve always loved this song.’ I think that’s what we all share: we all play live and know there’s this magic (that comes from that); there’s the swagger you can feel, that energy you can smell. This song has all that, and that’s what we went after.”
L.A. Rats’ version of “I’ve Been Everywhere” is available now via all major digital platforms for streaming and download. The guys haven’t specified whether L.A. Rats will release more new music.
Rob Zombie recently released his new album, “The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy,” in March. Sixx and Motley Crue just announced that their reunion tour will be postponed to 2022 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
