Mastodon to Perform First-Ever Acoustic Concert, a Livestream from Georgia Aquarium
Mastodon will perform their first-ever acoustic concerts on July 15 as a livestream performance from the Georgia Aquarium
Mastodon have been around for decades, but they have yet to go acoustic- until now. The Atlanta metal band has announced their first-ever acoustic concert, set to take place from the Georgia Aquarium as a global livestream event. The show, which Mastodon is holding with HD streaming platform, is set for July 15.
The streaming show will actually be Mastodon’s first concert of 2021. The band also has some festival dates on tap for 2021. A press release implies that the gig, called “Captured Live at Georgia Aquarium,” might be Mastodon’s only acoustic performance.
The show will feature a live performance, as well as conversation with the members of Mastodon, who will discuss the band’s creative process. Virtual tickets run $19.99 in advance here. Bundles with merch are also available. On the day of the show, the price of the virtual ticket will rise to $24.99.
In other news, Mastodon are currently working on their new album with Tool producer David Bottrill. Although no specific release date has been announced, the set is expected to arrive this fall.
Mastodon’s most recent release is last year’s “Medium Rarities,” which featured rare tracks such as covers, instrumental renditions of previous songs and live recordings. The band has also released some singles as of late, including “Rufus Lives” for the “Bill & Ted Face the Music” soundtrack and “Forged by Neron” for the “Dark Nights Death Metal Soundtrack.”
