A Perfect Circle Guitarist Billy Howerdel to Release Solo Album
Billy Howerdel of A Perfect Circle will release his debut single, “Poison Flowers,” on March 4, with a full album to follow
A Perfect Circle guitarist Billy Howerdel has announced he will release a new solo album later this year. Ahead of the LP, Howerdel will perform at #Happens Las Vegas on February 23 and release a new single, “Poison Flowers,” on March 4.
Howerdel is known for being a chief songwriter in A Perfect Circle, where he perform alongside Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan and James Iha of The Smashing Pumpkins. The upcoming album will mark his first released using his own name, but Howerdel is also known for his solo project, named Ashes Divide, which was active in the late 2010s.
While there’s no solid release date set for the new solo album yet, Howerdel will preview the songs off the set at the Feb. 23 the opening party for #Happens Las Vegas. For the show, Howerdel will bring along an all-star cast of players, including Josh Freese of multiple bands, Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), Kaela Sinclair (M83), and Kevin Maher (Fake Shark).
“This new album was birthed while on tour with A Perfect Circle,” Howerdel said in a release. “A weird blend of confidence, vulnerability and mortality urgently compelled me to write a letter of sorts in the form of an album.”
#Happens is an “organically driven, rock and alternative new music experience that brings together artists, radio programmers, label executives, and streaming experts over a three day conference that encourages thought-provoking conversations and dynamic performances against the colorful backdrop of downtown Las Vegas,” as described in a release. Howerdel’s will be during the opening night party, which is open to the public. Our Lady Peace and Spirit of the Bear will also perform. For tickets, go here.
Howerdel and A Perfect Circle’s recent album was 2018’s Eat the Elephant, which followed a 14-year break from A Perfect Circle albums.
