Furnace Fest has announced its 2022 lineup, featuring a range of rock, metal and post-hardcore acts

Organizers behind the 2022 Furnace Fest have been slowly releasing details of this year’s lineup, and Friday (March 25), they finalized most of the bill, except for a to-be-announced headliners. Heavy metal band Mastodon and post-hardcore group Thrice have both been announced as headliners, as well as an array of rock, metal and post-hardcore acts.

The festival will take place over three days at Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama, the weekend of Sept. 23 to 25. Thrice will headline the show on Friday, Sept. 23, performing their celebrated 2002 studio album “The Illusion of Safety” from front ot back. Other artists slated to appear Friday include New Found Glory, Alexisonfire, Midtown, Shadows Fall and Quicksand, among others.

Saturday, Sept. 24, will bring a performance from a to-be-announced headliner, as well as sets from Manchester Orchestra, The Ghost Inside, Elliott, Blindside performing the “Silence” album and Poison the Well, to name a few. Finally, Sunday, Sept. 25, will feature a headlining set from Mastodon, as well as music from Descendents, The Story So Far, In Flames, American Nightmare, Avail, Four Year Strong playing Enemy of the World and others.

“Furnace Fest took a 17-year nap before a group of us banded together with hopes of a one-time reunion,” festival organizers said in a statement. “After countless difficulties (like a global pandemic and rescheduling three times) the ‘one-time resurrection’ went so well that we knew it was only fair to share the experience again. We’re beyond excited to share this lineup and are thrilled to welcome 90 total bands on four stages in one, if not the, most unique venues on the planet. To us, Furnace Fest isn’t a festival. This is a family reunion of the most epic kind.”
