Jack White Marries Olivia Jean at Detroit Concert
Congratulations are in order for Jack White and his new wife, Olivia Jean
Jack White had a jam-packed Friday (April 9). First the Detroit rocker was tapped to perform the National Anthem at opening day for the Detroit Tigers, which anyone familiar with Detroit knows is one of the city’s biggest annual events. He performed an instrumental rendition, featuring his signature slide guitar and a solid backing band. Then, things got romantic.
Friday night, Jack White was booked to perform a sold-out show at the Masonic Temple in Detroit. It seemed like it would be like every other sold-out Jack White show in the Motor City, until something special happened towards the end of the set. During a performance of “Hotel Yorba,” White proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Olivia Jean, whose band opened the night.
White doesn’t allow cell phones at his shows, so no pictures from the wedding made their way onto social media, although TMZ did get a video of it here.
After finishing the song and proposal, the couple went off stage and came back with members of their family. Third Man Records co-founder Ben Swank then married the two.
After the wedding, White carried Olivia off the stage and returned to play some more songs. He ended the set with the White Stripes classic “7 Nation Army.”
This will be White’s third marriage. He was also married to model and singer Karen Elson and his White Stripes bandmate and drummer Meg White. We wish the new couple many years of health and happiness together.
