Linkin Park Have ‘No Tours, No Music’ Lined Up
Are the surviving members of Linkin Park planning any new music or tours together? Mike Shinoda answers
Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington sadly passed away in 2017, and since there, there have been plenty of rumors about a possible tour with the surviving members of the band or new music. Now, multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda is shining light on whether anything is in the works for Linkin Park, and it’s not promising.
Shinoda opened up about the future of Linkin Park during a Twitch livestream Friday (April 22). During the session, he said that there are no plans for live shows or new music from Linkin Park a the moment. Watch a clip of the Twitch video below.
“The only Linkin Park news that I have for you is that… Yeah, we talk every few weeks…” he said in the livestream. “There’s no tours, there’s no music, there’s no albums in the pipeline. Let me just tell you that. Just keep in your minds that that is not happening. I’m just gonna say that much for now.”
He added, “Anytime the band says anything or does anything, everyone tries to start up the hype train. And we’re like ‘No, no, no, no. Don’t start the hype train. You’re going to disappoint yourself.'”
The last time the surviving members of Linkin Park performed together was in 2017, when the band oversaw a tribute concert for Bennington. Linkin Park also hasn’t released any new music since Bennington’s passing. Bennington’s previous band, Grey Daze, has, however, released new music featuring the vocals of Bennington dug up from old demo tapes.
Even without Linkin Park, Shinoda continues to make waves in the music industry. He was recently named the Community Innovation Advisor for Warner Recorded Music.
