The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger Tests Positive for COVID-19
Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the band to postpone at least one of their European shows
The Rolling Stones have been on the road, but that’s all halting for now, as Mick Jagger has tested positive for COVID-19. With the positive test result, the Rolling Stones have postponed their show Monday (June 13) in Amsterdam.
The band released a statement saying, “The Rolling Stones have been forced to call off tonight’s concert in Amsterdam at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, following Mick Jagger testing positive after experiencing symptoms of COVID upon arrival at the stadium.”
The statement added, “The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry for tonight’s postponement, but the safety of the audience, fellow musicians and the touring crew has to take priority. The show will be rescheduled for a later date. Tickets for tonight’s show will be honored for the rescheduled date. Standby for details.”
In addition to the collective band statement, Jagger released a personal statement saying, “I’m so sorry that we’ve had to postpone the Amsterdam show with such short notice tonight. I have unfortunately just tested positive for COVID. We aim to reschedule that date ASAP and get back as soon as we can. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.” Jagger, 78, didn’t go into detail about exactly what symptoms he is experiencing or their severity.
Amsterdam was slated to be the fourth stop in the “Stones Sixty” European tour. The band just performed in Liverpool on Thursday (June 9). The Rolling Stones’ next tour date in Europe is in Bern, Switzerland, on June 17. That show is currently still a go, but time will tell if it gets postponed, as well. The staff of Audio Ink Radio wishes Jagger a speedy and complete recovery.
