The Osbournes Going Back on to Reality TV with ‘Home to Roost’

The Osbournes are returning to reality TV for the first time in 20 years
The Osbournes are no strangers to reality TV, and now, they’re heading back to the small screen. The family has announced they’ll be part of a new docu-series called “Home to Roost” The show will air in the U.K. and follow Ozzy and Sharon’s move from Los Angeles back to their homeland of England.
“Home to Roost” will air in 2023 on BBC One and its VOD service iPlayer as a 10-part series of 30-minute episodes. It’s interesting timing, as the Osbourne’s recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the family’s seminal reality series, “The Osbournes,” which was on MTV.
According to a press release from the BBC, “The Osbournes, Home to Roost” will also follow the lives of Sharon and Ozzy’s children, Jack and Kelly. The Osbournes’ other daughter, Aimee, appears to have decided not to appear in the show, as she also chose with The Osbournes.
According to a full description of the show, “‘Home to Roost’ will document Ozzy and Sharon’s journey back to Britain, alongside Kelly and Jack’s efforts to support them, as they attempt to re-start their lives in rural Buckinghamshire.” The summary adds, “The series will follow the Osbournes as they celebrate one of their most important years yet – with everything from Sharon’s 70th birthday to Kelly’s soon-to-be-born baby, Ozzy’s tour, and of course the big move itself. This will be a genuine portrait, showing Sharon and Ozzy as they face up to illness and the challenges of getting older, but with the usual Osbourne eccentricities, humour, warmth and love.”
Series creative directors Ben Wicks and Colin Barr say having the Osbourne’s back on the small screen as they come back to the U.S. is a “once in a lifetime opportunity.” They add, “Twenty years ago, they shaped television for all of us – now they’re coming home at a different stage in their lives but with the promise of the same laughter, love and tears.”
No announcement regarding how to watch “Home to Roost” in the U.S., but according to a release, international rights are currently being negotiated. Ozzy’s new album, “Patient Number 9,” is set to arrive on Sept. 9.
