Ozzy Osbourne and Turnstile are the most-nominated acts in the rock and metal Grammy categories for 2023

The 2023 Grammy Nominations are out, and Ozzy Osbourne and Turnstile are the most-nominated acts in the rock and metal categories. Osbourne snagged four nods, and the legendary hardcore band got three nominations. The official ceremony will take place on Feb. 5 in Los Angeles.

Osbourne’s new solo album, “Patient Number 9,” is nominated for Best Rock Album. That category also includes The Black Keys with “Dropout Boogie,” Elvis Costello & The Imposters’ “The Boy Named If,” Idles’ “Crawler,” “Machine Gun Kelly with “Mainstream Sellout” and Spoon with “Lucifer on the Sofa.” The Machine Gun Kelly will likely draw controversy, as many rockers don’t consider him part of the heavy music genre.

For Best Rock Performance category, Osbourne is nominated for “Patient Number 9” featuring Jeff Beck alongside Turnstile with “Blackout,” Beck with “Old Man,” The Black Keys with “Wild Child,” Brandi Carlile with “Broken Horses” and IDLES with “Crawl!”

In Best Rock Song, nominees include Osbourne (“Patient Number 9” featuring Jeff Beck), Turnstile (“Holiday”), Red Hot Chili Peppers (“Black Summer”), Brandi Carlile (“Broken Horses”) and The War on Drugs (“Harmonia’s Dream”).

Finally, for Best Metal Performance, the nominees are Osbourne with “Degradation Rules” (featuring Tony Iommi), Turnstile with “Blackout,” Ghost with “Call Me Little Sunshine,” Megadeth with “We’ll Be Back” and Muse with “Kill or Be Killed.” Muse being on the list will likely draw some raised eyebrows, as they aren’t a metal band.

Outside of metal, Beyonce has become the most nominated Grammy artist of all-time, breaking a record that was actually held by her husband JAY-Z. With her new album, “Renaissance,” Beyonce is up for Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Album. “Break My Soul” is nominated for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Dance/Electronic Recording.
