Corey Taylor is gearing up to release a new solo album, “CMF2”

After several months of teasing the news, Corey Taylor has officially announced his much-anticipated sophomore album, “CMF2,” out Sept. 15. In addition, the Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman has reveled the album’s lead single “Beyond,” and dates for an upcoming U.S. tour.

The tour sets off Aug. 25 in Denver, Colorado, and runs through an Oct. 5 gig in Los Angeles, California. Then, Taylor will appear at the Aftershock Festival on Oct. 7 in Sacramento, California. As for the headlining tour dates, Wargasm will open, with Oxymorrons and Luna Aura on select dates. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.

Previously in an interview with Billboard, Taylor said regarding his second solo album, “The songs are sick, the music is gigantic, and the risks were off the charts.” He added that, “CMFT was where I came from; CMF2 is where I’m going.”

Taylor has been working on lead single “Beyond” for years. He first wrote the song back in 2006, and it finally all came together for “CMF2” with the help of producer Jay Ruston. Also, it’s worth noting that Ruston also produced Stone Sour’s 2017 album, “Hydrograd,” and the debut “CMFT” album.

“I originally wrote it as an aggressive romantic song, but I’m also looking at it now as a kind of ‘come together’ song,” Taylor said in a release. “Bringing the masses together, and letting them know that I want my music to take them beyond what they may think about me. Maybe they’ve had a misconception about me. It’s not exactly a calling card, more like throwing the bat signal up and being ‘alright, let’s turn everything on its head.’ It’s almost a dual threat, because now I look at it from two standpoints.”

Regarding working with Ruston again, Taylor said, “Together we have great ideas, great energy, and are quick to try everything. We’re not afraid to tell each other if it’s a good idea, or also a bad one; we have that kind of trust.”
