Candlebox have a seven-LP box set of their early albums, plus their final studio album, on the way

It’s a busy year for Candlebox, and that means they’re going out in style. The longstanding post-grunge band will released their final LP, “The Long Goodbye,” on Aug. 25. In addition, Rhino Records has announced that they’re honoring the band with a new Candlebox reissue box set. The collection, called “The Maverick Years,” arrives on Sept. 22.

The reissue is a seven-LP vinyl collection with expanded editions of the group’s first three albums. It also includes a compilation of previously unreleased songs.

Specifically, the Maverick Years features remastered and expanded two-LP vinyl versions of the following Candlebox albums: “Candlebox” (1993), “Lucy” (1995) and “Happy Pills” (1998). Also, each LP includes bonus tracks, and an extra LP of unreleased material features a demo for “Happy Pills,” a remixed version of “Sometimes” and more.

As for that final album, “The Long Goodbye,” Candlebox are currently on the road with 3 Doors Down in support of the record. The trek kicked off in June and runs through a Sept. 23 date in Houston, Texas. Moreover, the two groups will join forces again on Oct. 21 for 3 Doors Down’s “The Better Life Foundation Concert” in Cherokee, North Carolina.

Candlebox broke out with their 1993 self-titled debut, which is part of the box set. What’s more, the LP has gone platinum four times and spawned two major rock radio hits in “Far Beyond” and “You.”

Candlebox vocalist Kevin Martin spoke with Audio Ink Radio in a past interview about what it was like coming up in the Seattle scene in the 1990s. “It was magical,” he recalled. “There were any number of bands that you could see. Each one of them was their own style, their own sound. I think the name grunge is interesting because there’s so many different styles of music that have come out of Seattle at that time, the only really grungy type of band would, in my opinion, have been like Tad or the Melvins.”
