Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age Gives Cancer Update
Josh Homme cancer update: The Queens of the Stone Age frontman has shared a big cancer update, and it’s good
Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has been fighting cancer since 2022. The singer and songwriter of the popular desert rock band revealed the news earlier this year, and at the time, he said he underwent surgery to try to become cancer-free.
Now, Homme has the best news ever, as the musician says he’s officially cancer-free and “all clear.” The news came in a new interview with ITV.
“I’m good. I’m all clear,” Homme told ITV, when asked about his current health and battle with cancer. He also said that he’s feeling “the best I’ve felt all year.”
Switching gears, Homme also reminisced about the many loved ones and friends he lost this year. The list keeps getting longer. “A lot of people have passed away near [me], nine people in the last … year and a half now,” he said. Even though he didn’t get specific about who he’s lost, it’s not a secret that Homme was close with former Queens of the Stone Age bandmate Mark Lanegan, also of Screaming Trees, and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Homme also discussed his high-profile relationship and breakout with his former wife, singer Brody Dalle of The Distillers. Of the situation, he commented, “And I had a little heartache, and I had a little of this and a little of that. But also, I’ve never learned so much so quickly. And so, I’m sort of thankful for it all at the end because I feel closer to the things I truly love.”
While Homme didn’t say exactly when doctors said he was cancer-free, he’s been healthy enough to hit the road with Queens of the Stone Age this year and play a bunch of shows. The group embarked on a North American tour earlier this fall, and they’re currently touring the U.K. and Europe. They have shows booked in North America in December, too.
