Hatebreed Honoring 30th Anniversary on North American Tour
It’s hard to believe, but the gents of Hatebreed have been making their hardcore metal sounds for 30 years. In honor of their 30th anniversary as a band, the guys are hitting the road on a fall 2024 North American tour. They’re bringing Carcass, Harms Way and Crypta along for the Hatebreed tour, too.
Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta and the crew will being their tour Sept. 26 in Portland, Maine, and continue through an Oct. 27 date in Norfolk, Virginia. The tour will hit a bunch of major cities. A Live Nation pre-sale is happening now using the code KEY. Meanwhile, general sales start Friday (March 22) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
“We are extremely grateful to have hit this milestone and to be able to celebrate it with the some of the best bands and fans in the world,” Jasta said in a press release. “We cannot wait to see everyone on the road.”
Hatebreed’s latest studio album in 2020’s “The Weight of False Self.” As for what to expect from the Hatebreed tour, the press release promises “fan favorites,” as well as “deep cuts” from their full catalog.
As for “The Weight of False Self,” in an interview surrounding the release, longtime guitarist Wayne Lozinak spoke with Audio Ink Radio about the sound on the record. “It still has some of the basic– we try not to stray from the original formula, I guess you could say, too much. I think it still has the same basic Hatebreed style that everyone knows,” he said. “But, I think, we tried to get a little heavier with even the guitar tone. Working with Zeus, our producer, and everything, we did a slightly different and even, maybe, a little more technical, not too crazy, but a little more technical playing and some more solos on this album. I think it came out great.”
I think it’s great to see a band actually get heavier with age. Usually, it goes the other way.
Lozinak added that he thinks Hatebreed’s songwriting is getting better as the years go on.
“Especially compared to the early days, it was pretty much just basic,” he said. “I mean, we’ve always still taken a combination of hardcore and metal and brought them together, but it was definitely more basic and simple songs back in the early days. Some of them are a minute and a half, like two riffs and done! We’ve definitely tried to mature a little bit over the years.”
