AC/DC has one of the biggest tours of the year, as the legendary rock band is joining back up with longtime vocalist Brian Johnson for a massive comeback tour. Now, the guys have announced that Taylor Momsen and The Pretty Reckless will open as direct support on the U.K. and European dates of the trek.

Tapping The Pretty Reckless for support is an interesting choice. The band definitely appeals to the kind of classic rockers that AC/DC will bring out to shows, but Momsen’s influences lean more towards grunge than the ’80s brand of rock that defines bands like AC/DC. But, it brings a different kind of sound to AC/DC’s bill, and maybe The Pretty Reckless will make new fans.

AC/DC will being their tour on May 17 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and continue on the road through an Aug. 17 show in Dublin, Ireland. The band has been adding additional show dates since the tour’s initial announcement. View the full roster of U.K. and European tour dates below. The Pretty Reckless will join the band on all the tour dates.

The Pretty Reckless are touring behind their 2021 album, “Death by Rock and Roll.” The band has charted significantly with the record, including notching three No. 1 rock songs with “And So It Went” (featuring Tom Morello) and “Only Love Can Save Me Now” (featuring Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron).

AC/DC most recently performed in the States at the Power Trip festival last fall. The group’s lineup for the tour includes classic members Brian Johnson and Angus Young, as well as newer members Stevie Young, Matt Laug and Chris Chaney.

The last time AC/DC performed on a major tour, it was their Rock or Bust run before the pandemic hit. For that trek, Johnson had to sit out, because of hearing issues. Axl Rose from Guns N’ Roses took his place, and while he did a great job, it wasn’t the same as seeing Johnson with the group. I went to the Detroit stop of AC/DC’s Rock or Bust tour, and the band sounded incredible. Rose also sounded fantastic, and his high tenor was a great fit for AC/DC’s songs. But, it will be nice to have the band back with their longtime vocalist, Johnson.
