If you’ve been to a lot of concerts over the years, chances are you have a box full of concert ticket stubs somewhere at your place, and some of those concerts stubs could be worth a fortune or at least way more than you paid for them to see the show. Some of the most coveted concert stubs are worth hundreds or more. Of course, if you’re someone who’s very nostalgic, maybe you won’t want to part with your beloved concert stubs. But, if you’re looking to make some extra dough, there are some ways you can tell if you have valuable concert ticket stubs sitting at home, explained by experts.

Valuable Concert Ticket Stubs, According to Experts

The first thing to know about valuable concert ticket stubs is that certain artists have the most coveted stubs. Those artists are pretty much to be expected and along the lines of artists with popular vinyl. The experts at Hobby Lark say that some of the artists with the more valuable stubs include the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, the Who, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Nirvana, the Doors, Queen and Janis Joplin. They also mention that Woodstock Music Festival ’69 vintage tickets are among the more coveted stubs.

If you don’t have any of those vintage stubs sitting around, it’s okay. Other concert tickets are still valuable, but they might not get the hundreds and thousands that bands such as Pink Floyd or Nirvana get. Selling the Collection has a variety of concert stubs listed, and they range widely in price and artist. For example, a Red Hot Chili Peppers ticket stub from 2006 is listed as $20, from the band’s show at New York City’s Irving Plaza. They also have a Temptations ticket for $15, Madonna ticket for $20, Grateful Dead stub for $35 and Alice Cooper ticket for $15. It’s actually a great idea for a holiday or birthday gift for the music fan in your life. For the big Led Zeppelin fan, they also have a framed ticket from their last scheduled concert in 1977 listed at $500.

Certain aspects of the concert ticket stubs also make them more valuable. As Hobby Lark explains, “Vintage concert tickets that have an image of the artist or band on the front are highly collectible.” They add, “Also, a band’s logo or a specific graphic referring to that particular tour will add to its value. The more information on a ticket stub, the more valuable.”

Beyond concerts, the experts at Collectors Weekly say that sports tickets are also very in demand, noting that “two of the biggest areas in ticket collecting are Super Bowl tickets and World Series tickets.” They add that, “Football memorabilia collectors look for tickets from Super Bowls II (the Green Bay Packers versus the Oakland Raiders), III (the New York Jets versus the Baltimore Colts), and XII (the Dallas Cowboys versus the Denver Broncos).” Meanwhile, baseball collectors “go for tickets to Don Larsen’s perfect game, thrown in game five of the 1956 World Series between Larsen’s New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers.”
