Beloved ’80s Band Planning Major Reunion

The 1980s were simply a fun time for music. Even if you weren’t alive yet in the ’80s, you can feel the excitement of that decade by listening to the blockbuster rock bands of that era, from Guns N’ Roses to Motley Crue. Of course, the ’80s were a long time ago, so some of those bands have retired. But, many of those bands from the decade are still making new music and touring, and one of them is planning a major reunion in the coming years.

Drummer Rikki Rockett Confirms Reunion

One of the most celebrated bands from the Sunset Strip was Poison. Now, drummer Rikki Rockett has confirmed that the band will regroup in 2026.

Rockett discussed the reunion in a new interview on Sirius XM’s Trunk Nation. On the show, Rockett basically confirmed a true reunion in 2026 with all of the band’s original members involved.

Host Eddie Trunk even read a text message that he got from Poison frontman Bret Michaels before taping the show.

“When I announced on socials about a week ago when I knew you were gonna come on today, Bret sent me a text,” he said. “Bret Michaels a day or two ago, and he said, ‘Hey, I hear you’re going to have Rikki Rockett on. Send him my love and tell him Poison 2026.’ What are your thoughts on that? Are you hopeful of that?”

Rockett replied, “Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely. ’26 is for sure gonna happen and like, I mean, unless some unforeseen thing happens, but all band members have stuck their hand in and said, ‘Yeah, we’re definitely doing it without a doubt.'”

The last time Poison toured was when they opened for Def Leppard and Motley Crue on the Crue’s 2022 stadium tour.

So, why are they waiting until 2026 to regroup? Some fans might be hoping they get together before then, but Michaels announced last spring that he will be taking most of 2025 off “to recharge the batteries.” He did, however, mention a few shows that would take place in 2025.

“In 2025, in light of some recent medical results and setbacks,” Michaels said, “and with much discussion and real advice from my doctors and family, I will be taking most, if not all, of 2025 off, except for a few select dates with both the Bret Michaels Band and possibly all original Poison.”

Rickki Rockett Announces New Book

In other news, Rockett also recently announced that he’s working on a new memoir that will cover the start of Poison and their early days. The new memoir will arrive on July 15, 2025, called “Ghost Notes.” The book will be a collaboration with writers Leif Eriksson and Martin Svensson.

Back in 2018, Audio Ink Radio caught up with Rockett back and chatted about Poison’s tour at the time with Cheap Trick. In the chat, he said, “On a very simple level, I think it’s awesome that a fan can come and see all those songs and hear all those hits being performed live by the people who wrote them and performed them on the record, and I think that’s super important.”
