Aerosmith Band Member Announces New Album
With it being the Christmas season and the holidays being officially here, many musicians are staying lowkey until 2025 kicks in, unless they’re releasing some holiday music, of course. But, Aerosmith bass player Tom Hamilton isn’t slowing down for the holidays. His new band, Close Enemies, has signed a record deal with TLG|ROCK just in time for the band’s January 2025 U.S. tour.
Aerosmith’s Tom Hamilton Announces Tour With New Band
Close Enemies’ upcoming tour will have Hamilton and the crew playing City Winery venues, beginning with a gig on January 8 at Philadelphia City Winery and continuing through January 29 at St. Louis City Winery. Ticket information for most dates are available on the respective websites for each venue.
In other news, the group will release its debut single, “Sound of a Train,” on January 17, during the tour. The group is also working on a full-length album.
In a press release, Hamilton said the band was “really excited to be working with TLG/Virgin on the release of the Close Enemies record” and that “they’re genuinely as excited about putting it out” as Hamilton and the guys are. He added that they “can’t wait to see what happens.” A full-length album is also in the works.
Denny Sanders, CEO of TLG|ROCK, a part of the Virgin Music Group, said, “My good friend Andy Gallagher of the band Overhaul sent me the music.”
He added, “I absolutely loved it, then to find out who’s in the band, well that was just icing on the cake. We are all thrilled here at TLG to be working with Close Enemies.”
Tom Hamilton’s New Band Brings Together Vets
Hamilton announced his new band in September. The lineup features Hamilton along with drummer Tony Brock (The Babys, Rod Stewart), touring veterans Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow, Don Henley) and Trace Foster on guitar and vocalist Chasen Hampton.
So, while Aerosmith have retired from touring due to vocalist Steven Tyler’s vocal problems, Hamilton is still keeping busy on the road. These shows are in no way as large as Aerosmith gigs when it comes to venue size, but there has to be a certain charm to playing smaller, more intimate venues after playing arenas for so long.
Aerosmith just wouldn’t sound right with a singer other than Tyler, and several band members have said they don’t see a version of the band continuing with a different vocalist. Still, stranger things have happened. Remember when Axl Rose toured with classic rock band AC/DC in place of Brian Johnson, because Johnson had to stay off the road due to hearing issues? Now, AC/DC is back with Johnson, and while Rose filled in well for him, it just wasn’t the same. Most fans would agree Rose did those vocals justice, but he just wasn’t Johnson.
