Summer is upon us, which means bands and artists are announcing summer 2025 tours. The outlook for heavy music is looking good this time around, and adding to the idea that metal is alive and well is Pantera announcing a summer tour with Swedish melodic Viking metal band Amon Amarth. On top of Amon Amarth, Pantera says to expect an “additional guest opener to be announced at a later date.”

Pantera 2025 Tour Dates

The tour will begin July 15 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, and take Pantera through amphitheaters across the U.S., closing out with a September 13 date in West Palm Beach, Florida. A Live Nation ticket pre-sale for select dates starts Wednesday, February 26, at 10 a.m. local time using Ticketmaster using the code DUET. General ticket sales begin Friday, February 28, at 10 a.m. local time.

The tour will mark Pantera’s longest headlining run since their first reunion tour in 2023. They’re keeping busy this year, too, because Pantera have also been selected to open for Metallica, as they did the past few years, on Metallica’s M72 world tour. Pantera will support Metallica from mid-April through the end of June. Let’s not forget that Pantera will also perform at Black Sabbath’s final show on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, U.K.

As with Pantera’s previous reunion shows, the new gigs will feature classic members vocalist Philip H. Anselmo and bass player Rex Brown, as well as guitarist Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society and drummer Charlie Benante of Anthrax. The tour, of course, goes on without late, great brothers Vinnie Paul and “Dimebag” Darrell, which has drawn some criticism from fans.

Chad Gray Talks Vinnie Paul

As great as it is to see this reunion happening, one has to wonder if it would have every happened if Vinnie or Dimebag were still with us.

In a March 2024 interview with Jesea Lee, Mudvayne vocalist Chad Gray discussed the matter. Gray played with Vinnie in Hellyeah for years.

“I know what it is, and I know some levels of the intention are true and pure,” Gray said of the Pantera reunion. He added, “But I also know, from sitting in on a million … interviews with Vinnie Paul […] there was always some clown interviewer setting himself up for failure, being like, ‘So, what’s the deal with all the mutterings we’re hearing about the Pantera reunion?'”

“Vinnie would literally go, ‘My brother’s dead,'” Gray added, also saying that then, he wouldn’t say another about.

“That’s the way Vinnie thought about it: Pantera was done because his brother was dead,” Gray added. “When I hear that, and I hear how passionately he said that, and I know how much he meant it…”

Gray later added to “let it be the tribute thing, or whatever, but really question how much longer it goes and what else happens with it. Make sure we’re giving love and respect to those two fallen brothers, man.”
