Ozzy Osbourne is 76 years old, and even with Parkinson’s Disease and dealing with that, he’s showing no signs of trying to step down for his musical throne for good. Sure, he recently announced his last live show with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, but he still seems to want to stay involved in creating music, which is his art.

Now, Osbourne has received some very good news about his latest musical endeavor.

Ozzy Osbourne is on the Charts Extra Early

Osbourne just snagged a spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with his new single, “Gods of Rock N Roll,” even though the song hasn’t even been released yet. Radio stations often get singles to play before the songs are released, so that sheds some light into how this can happen.

The new single is a fresh take on the song “Gods,” which first appeared on Billy Morrison’s 2015 album, “God Shaped Hole.” Ozzy co-wrote and contributed vocals to the original song, and now, it’s been released as a new, orchestral version with added guitar work from Steve Stevens.

Morrison debuted “Gods of Rock N Roll (Orchestral)” on SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard channel a couple weeks ago, and after that debut, the song started making its way onto terrestrial radio stations. Now, the song is on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart at No. 26, according to the experts at Forbes.

The single will officially drop on Friday, February 14. It will also arrive on the deluxe edition of Morrison’s 2024 studio album, “The Morrison Project,” which will be available on digital outlets starting February 21 and vinyl March 7.

Black Sabbath Reunion Details

As for that Black Sabbath reunion, Osbourne and Sabbath will perform one final time on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. The event will feature a bevy of major names in heavy metal, including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, new Grammy winners Gojira and many more.

Other performers include Anthrax, Lamb of God, Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins, David Draiman of Disturbed, Duff McKagan and Slash, Fred Durst, Jonathan Davis, Jake E. Lee, KK Downing, Mike Bordin, Rudy Sarzo, Sammy Hagar, Sleep Token’s II, Ghost’s Papa V Perpetua, Wolfgang Van Halen, and Zakk Wylde, to name a few.

“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning….time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Ozzy stated regarding the final show. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”

The show, dubbed “Back to the Beginning,” will mark Black Sabbath’s first concert since they wrapped up their farewell tour in February 2017. Ward wasn’t part of that tour, so this marks his first gig with the band since even prior to that tour.

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello will serve as musical director for the night. Regarding the event, he stated in a release, “this will be the greatest heavy metal show ever.”

Ozzy’s farewell should be of epic proportions, no doubt, especially with all these big names.
