Bands members come and go, but there’s no reason that a great band, especially in the classic rock genre, can’t continue amid lineup changes. Some of the biggest bands in the world have worked through lineup changes, sometimes early in their career, but other times later.

For example, Dave Grohl wasn’t the first drummer of Nirvana. But, he’s known for being Nirvana’s drummer, even though he joined the band after their “Bleach” debut.

Now, one classic rock band has announced a new vocalist, who will serve as a special guest, for their upcoming tour.

New Touring Vocalist for Chart-Topping Classic Rock Band

Foreigner, the Rock Hall of Famer known for hits such as “Cold As Ice,” “Hot Blooded” and “Juke Box Hero,” is hitting the road on a 2025 Canadian tour as a prelude to the kick off of “Juke Box Hero, The Musical,” which will into production in 2026.

In a release, Foreigner have announced that Canada’s Geordie Brown will serve as as guest vocalist during their set.

“Audiences will be familiar with Geordie as the male lead of the workshop production of ‘Juke Box Hero, The Musical’ in Calgary & Edmonton and the sold-out run in Toronto at the Ed Mirvish Theatre,” the release adds.

Geordie proved himself worthy not only to audiences, but also to Foreigner’s leader and founder, Mick Jones, who had this to say; “

Of the addition, Foreigner leader and founder Mick Jones noted, “I was most impressed by Geordie’s performances of ‘Juke Box Hero, The Musical’ in Canada. He is not only a consummate vocalist, but a verified Broadway actor to boot. We look forward to welcoming him at our shows on Foreigner’s 2025 Canadian tour.”

Canada, according to the band, is one of Foreigner’s most important markets, so this is a big gig for Geordie.

New Music for Foreigner?

In 2024, Foreigner played their worldwide farewell tour, but they’re continuing to play shows, just not at that level. In an interview with Audio Ink Radio, Jeff Pilson of the band stated, “It doesn’t mean we’re going away. It just means this is the end of the nine months on the road kind of touring, so that’s why it’s a farewell tour.”

He added, “We’ll still be there, and there’s some unfinished music we’d love to finish up if possible, and we’ll perhaps will do other shows. We’re kind of working on that now. But, yes, this is the last time we’re out there for a long tour, which is bittersweet. I’m going to miss it in some ways but happy to not be traveling.”

At the time, he also talked more about the possibility new music could be on the way from Foreigner.

“There’s a couple of songs floating around that I would love to see us finish,” he said. “Maybe 2025 will give us the time to do that. It’s very, very difficult to do that when we’re on the road.”

Pilson added, “It’s just really, really hard. Then, when we have time off, people need the time off. So, it’s very hard to write and record touring as much as we do. But, like I say, maybe in 2025 we’ll have time to do it.”
