It’s such a great feeling when a band that’s been absent for a while returns with new music. That’s especially true when that band broke out decades ago, which is the case with a beloved alternative rock band that’s making a splash this year.
While the guys of Bush haven’t really been on a hiatus, they also haven’t released a new album since 2022’s “The Art of Survival.” But, Gavin Rossdale and company have announced that they’re back with a new album, “I Beat Loneliness,” out July 18. Ahead of the new set, the band has also released the new song, “60 Ways to Forget People.”
Bush ‘Blends Their Grunge-Rooted Intensity’ in New Album
The album, which was produced by Gavin Rossdale and Erik Ron, is the ’90s alternative rock band’s 10th studio album, which shows how much they’ve continued to churn out new music decade after decade. “The record blends their grunge-rooted intensity with fresh textures and themes exploring mental health, solitude, and resilience,” a release states.
“Exploring the complexities of heartbreak, personal transformation and the painful process of letting go, the track sets the tone for a bold new chapter,” the band adds in a statement. Also, the official first single for the album will arrive June 5.
Of the new song that the band just released, “60 Ways to Forget People,” Rossdale says, “What I feel about this record is it addresses the common struggles we all have. ’60 Ways To Forget People,’ is an ode to sacrifice and a dedication to the focus it takes to be better. All the time and in all things.”
The new album will feature 12 new tracks, including “Scars,” “I Beat Loneliness,” “The Land Of Milk And Honey,” “We’re All The Same On The Inside,” “I Am Here To Save Your Life,” “60 Ways To Forget People,” “Love Me Till The Pain Fades,” “We Are Of This Earth,” “Everyone Is Broken,” “Don’t Be Afraid,” “Footsteps In The Sand” and “Rebel With A Cause.” In an age of singles, it’s comforting and nostalgic to see a band pull out a full-length release with 12 new originals, right?
Bush to Hit the Road in 2025
On top of the new music, the guys of Bush will also be on the road this year. After the album’s release, Bush will hit the road on a worldwide tour, kicking off April 21 in Victoria, BC, Canada. The band will also set off on a tour of North America from July 19 to August 30, before going overseas to link up with Volbeat for a collection of dates across Europe and U.K. from September 18 through November 13.
“Bush, the iconic London-formed band that helped define rock music in the 90’s with their landmark 1994 debut Sixteen Stone, continues to be a commanding presence in music,” a release adds. With more than “24 million records sold, 1.1 billion streams, and a string of No. 1 singles, Gavin Rossdale (vocals, guitar), Chris Traynor (guitar), Corey Britz (bass), and Nik Hughes (drums) remain a vital force in the genre.”
So, it really appears Bush doesn’t plan to slow down anytime soon.
