It almost seemed as if Ozzy Osbourne would live forever, but the metal legend passed away just a few weeks following his last performance at Black Sabbath’s farewell show. Osbourne was 76 years old.

No cause of death has been revealed as of yet, but Osbourne was vocal over the years about his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease.

Parkinson’s disease, according to the Cleveland Clinic, is “an age-related degenerative brain condition, meaning it causes parts of your brain to deteriorate. It’s best known for causing slowed movements, tremors, balance problems and more. Most cases happen for unknown reasons, but some are inherited.” They add that while “the condition isn’t curable,” there are “many different treatment options.”

“Parkinson’s disease is a condition where a part of your brain deteriorates, causing more severe symptoms over time,” they add in a feature about the disease. “While this condition is best known for how it affects muscle control, balance and movement, it can also cause a wide range of other effects on your senses, thinking ability, mental health and more.”

Ozzy Osbourne’s Message

Ahead of Osbourne’s final show with Black Sabbath and his solo band, he sent a special message to his audience.

In an interview with Classic Rock published on May 21, Osbourne said that there would be no way Black Sabbath would ever take the stage together again after their final show. Perhaps he knew that his days were numbered even then.

“It’s very important. The original Sabbath will never be on stage together again,” he said of the “Back to the Beginning” show. “From the late 60s, we’re probably one of the only bands where the original members are still alive and speaking with one another.”

Black Sabbath band members Bill Ward and Tony Iommi were also interviewed in the feature, and at the time, Iommi gushed over having Ward back in the band. ‘There’s be no point [doing it without Ward],” Iommi said. “Because it’s the original line-up, that makes it more proper. So no, I wouldn’t have done it without the original line-up.”

Osbourne and Black Sabbath performed their final show together on Saturday, July 5, called their “Back to the Beginning” concert. The show happened in Osbourne’s home base of Birmingham, England.
