The score for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ will feature Incubus’ Michael Einziger, ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and more

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” score is set to feature a few high-profile alternative rock musicians: Incubus guitarist Michael Einziger and former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. The duo has been tapped by composer Hans Zimmer to work on the music for the upcoming show, and he thinks it’s a great fit.

“*Spider-Man 2 director) Marc (Webb) and I were talking about Spider-Man, and as the word got out, so many of our friends and musicians started calling us up, wanting to be a part of it, because they love Spider-Man,” Zimmer said in an official statement. “With all of these hugely talented people wanting to join us, it was Marc who said, ‘Why not start a band?’ Marc and I have had a great start jamming with everybody, and we still have a few surprises up our sleeve.”

This isn’t Einziger’s first brush with the movies, as the guitarist recently joined forces with Zimmer to put together the score for “The Lone Ranger.” This, however, is Marr’s first time working on a movie score. Additional musicians set to appear on “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” score include Eurythmics guitarist Dave Stewart and rapper Pharrell Williams.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is scheduled to reach theaters on May 2, 2014.
