Jack White’s recent onstage rant about Foo Fighters was simply a joke, according to White’s rep

Jack White got a bit of negative press after ranting onstage on Wednesday (Sept. 17) in Boston and seemingly putting down Foo Fighters. Now, White has revealed he was simply making a job via an official statement that has him apologizing for his comments about Dave Grohl and the Foos.

At the show, which a fan recorded on audio and posted to YouTube, White made a comment that Foo Fighters have a “second guitar player playing the same parts I play so in case I make a mistake, he’s still playing it for you.”

The Foo Fighters responded with a fun-and-games approach to the negative comment and posted a photo on Twitter of a monkey playing a guitar and captioning it, “Busted….behold, the secret of the Foo Fighters sound…”

Even so, White’s reps wanted to clarify his comments and sent out a statement on the matter: “Last night Jack White made a joke on stage! There was a minor equipment mishap, specifically with his guitar, and in an effort to keep his audience engaged, he made a joke!  It was meant to be funny and self-deprecating: ‘Hey sorry, you’re stuck with just me up here…’ vs the Foo Fighters who have three guitar players on stage and regularly play stadium shows.”

The statement concluded, “Jack has the (utmost) respect for the Foo Fighters and communicated with (Dave) Grohl this morning. So if you’ll let us, we’ll all continue with our day and we assure you: All is well in the rock n roll world.”
