The members of Slipknot have been writing new music during their time off the road, says Shawn “Clown” Crahan
Corey Taylor recently released his debut solo album, “CMFT,” and with that off the table, fans have been wondering if new music from Taylor’s masked band, Slipknot, is in play. According to percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, the answer is, “yes.”
During a livestream promoting Slipknot’s signature whiskey, Clown revealed that, indeed, the band has been working on new music as of late. After all, what else can they do during a coronavirus lockdown?
“Since everybody’s taken a lot of time off (due to the COVID-19 pandemic), we thought we’d utilize it by getting together and do what we probably do best, which is write music,” he said.
Slipknot took a five-year hiatus between albums the late time around, releasing a new album in 2014, “.5: The Gray Chapter,” and following that up with 2019’s “We Are Not Your Kind.” That said, it’s no surprise that the Slipknot crew is in no rush to put out a new record. Clown says that he and the members of Slipknot aren’t feeling “pressure” to release it soon.
“It’s not like we have to (write new music),” Clown explained. “We’re doing it ’cause we want to… It’s just been a blessing, because boredom can set in. I know all of us in the world are going crazy, so we’re really lucky to be able to be together and do what we love most.”
