Bullet for My Valentine’s Michael ‘Padge’ Paget: Uproar Festival Chat
Bullet for My Valentine Guitarist Talks Uproar, New Music
The 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival kicks off in Camden, New Jersey, this Friday (Aug. 26), and concert-goers are in for a treat when Welch metallers Bullet for My Valentine tear up the main stage. Since the early 2000s, the talented quartet have delivered punk-influenced metal for a new generation of music fans, bringing tracks oozing with melody and guitar dazzle.
The band’s current album, Fever, debuted No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart last year. For fans who are waiting with anxious ears for a new album, the time is almost here.
“After the Uproar Festival ends, we’re going to go home and take some time off, and if all goes well, we’ll have a new album out next year,” guitarist Michael “Padge” Paget said.
Paget still remembers the first time Bullet for My Valentine played the U.S. The band quickly won over fans, bringing power, force and energy to every show.
“It was awesome, especially the first time we went there, because I had never been there before,” Paget said. “You kind of imagine it’s going to be like what you see in the movies, and it is, and everyone is really cool and friendly. But you just go out there and play guitar, and then it starts to feel more like a home show.”
Now, the guys are regulars on U.S. turf, and their tour diary includes headlining gigs on Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio, and tours with Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne.
As for Uproar, Paget says Bullet for My Valentine is honored to be on such a tight, complete bill of rock ‘n’ roll: “Having that sort of package with all the different bands playing outdoors at one festival is great, so it’s especially fun doing that sort of show,” he said.
The 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, runs through Oct. 14 in Mountain View, Calif., bringing together Bullet for My Valentine with Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace, Seether, Sevendust, Art of Dying, Black Tide, Escape the Fate and more.
