Silversun Pickups Prep Record Store Day Black Friday Seasick 10″
Silversun Pickups release new tracks off Swoon for Record Store Day
Los Angeles indie rock band Silversun Pickups have stayed a bit under-the-radar as of late. But on Nov. 25, Record Store Day Black Friday, fans will get a taste of fresh Pickups in the shape of the Seasick 10″ vinyl. The 10″ brings three previously unreleased tracks from the band’s Swoon recording sessions in 2009, including the title track as well as two B-sides, “Ribbons & Detours” and “Broken Bottles.”
The vinyl will be for sale at independent music shops on Nov. 25, and the digital version will be available on iTunes, AmazonMP3 and all digital service providers on Dec. 13. Meanwhile, Silversun Pickups are currently recording their third studio LP with producer Jacknife Lee, and they’re shooting for a spring 2012 release on Dangerbird Records.
Silversun Pickups bass player Nikki Monninger recently chatted with Audio Ink Radio about her experience holding down the bottom end in the band. “It’s so nice to travel to different cities and get to meet everyone that comes up to us after shows,” she said. “Just getting to see more of America and the world than we had a chance to see before is amazing. We’re very fortunate.”
She also mentioned that the success of “Panic Switch,” the lead track off Swoon, came as a pleasant surprise to Pickups. “It’s always nice to hear and experience that kind of success, but it’s definitely not something we expected at all,” she said. “It was a very nice surprise.” (Photo: Silversun Pickups via Facebook.)
