Alter Bridge’s Scott Phillips Discusses Band’s Future
Alter Bridge drummer says 2012 will mark the return of Creed
Alter Bridge saw a fantastic 2011, between co-headlining the Carnival of Madness tour with Theory of a Deadman to rocking Australia’s Soundwave Festival. But, 2012 is shaping up to be an off-year for the guys, as lead songster Myles Kennedy preps for a new Slash album and everyone else in the band joins back up with Scott Stapp for a new Creed album.
“You know, each of us have our own thing,” drummer Scott Phillips told Stereoboard. “I think we’ve got a lot of different paths we’re heading on in 2012…. Myles will be doing a new record and a new tour with Slash, which will be the first proper thing, whatever it is… the Slash and Myles [Kennedy] experiment. I don’t know if they’re going to have a band name of just tour as Slash. The first record with Slash featured Myles on a few tracks with a lot of other singers, but this is the first time that it’s going to be Myles and Slash, and I’m sure that he’s very excited about that.” Kennedy and Slash have are a match made in hard rock heaven, so we’re excited about that, too!
As for the other members, Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall and Phillips plan to head straight into work with Creed. Phillips says the men will be doing, “Creed stuff and doing Creed tours.” He also touched on Tremoni’s upcoming solo release. “Mark’s got a solo record that he’s almost finished with. That will probably be coming out about Spring next year; I think that’s his goal for that,” he said. “He’ll be diligently working on that as well as Creed stuff.
“We’ll certainly be visible next year, but it’ll be on various projects and then … probably 2013 will be the reunion there of Alter Bridge and we’ll diligently get to work on a new record and tour as soon as we can.” So, between the Kennedy and Slash album, Creed’s return, Tremonti’s solo release and new Alter Bridge in 2013, the next few years are on target to bring lots of rock goodness from the guys!
