Coldplay and Rihanna to Perform Together at Grammys
Grammy Awards bring together Coldplay and Rihanna for first televised performance together
When the Grammy Awards recently announced a lengthy list of performers for their upcoming 2012 ceremony, loyal watchers were reminded that this event is becoming more of a concert than a typical awards presentation. Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Marks, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean are just a few of the musicians who will bring their sounds to the show this year.
The Grammy Awards are known for not only booking A-list talent, but also putting together artists one would never expect to see on the same stage for a spectacular — if not a bit odd — collaboration. In that spirit, pop starlet Rihanna and London-based alternative band Coldplay have been confirmed to perform live together for the first time on Feb. 12 at the 54th annual Grammy Awards. The show marks the televised premiere of their collaboration, “Princess of China,” which appears on Coldplay’s current, Grammy-nominated album, “Mylo Xyloto.”
Rihanna proudly proclaimed the Grammy news via Twitter: “My friends @ColdPlay and I will be sharing the stage for a performance at this years Annual Grammy Awards!” Later, she followed up, tweeting, “WE reached 2BILLION views on @youtube !!! THANK U!!! I’m in a great mood, and I got some GREAT NEWS!!! PRINCESS OF CHINA #GRAMMYS2012.” Yes, kids, Rihanna has an alternative rock streak in her yet!
Longtime rap personality LL Cool J will host the ceremony, and more performers and presenters will be confirmed in the coming weeks. Who would you like to see bring their pipes to the show?
