Jack White readies first-ever solo release, ‘Blunderbuss’

Former White Stripes frontman Jack White has announced that he will release his debut solo album this April. It was only a matter of time, right?

According to White’s new website, the album, “Blunderbuss,” will reach stores and online April 24 via White’s own Third Man Records / Columbia. White self-produced the release.

Recorded at White’s Third Man Studio in Nashville, the singer and songwriter promises that the collection’s tracks were “written from scratch” and “had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas,” according to a release. White went on to say that “Blunderbuss” is “an album I couldn’t have released until now. I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.” Sounds like a promising concoction!

White’s first single, “Love Interruption,” is available to stream below and is available online beginning today. The song marks a notable change from White’s booming rock with a sparse acoustic guitar and pleasant keyboard part. The single will arrive on 7″ vinyl Feb. 7, and it’s backed with a non-album B-side called “Machine Gun Silhouette.” Are you stoked to hear new tracks from White?

Two thousand twelve has already been an eventful year for White, as he and the studio for this record label Third Man Records were featured on the History Channel’s “American Pickers” earlier this month. Find more about the episode on White’s artist page.
