Foo Fighters perform at the 54th annual Grammy Awards this weekend
The 54th annual Grammy Awards air live this Sunday (Feb. 12) on CBS, and performers are dusting off their guitars and gear in preparation for the big show.
Legendary post-grunge band Foo Fighters are slated to play a sparkly Grammy night performance, and MTV News has scored an exclusive sneak peak at the television ad campaign starring the rockers. Dave Grohl and the guys are nominated for six Grammy this year, including Best Rock Album and Album of the Year for their chart-topping rock collection, “Wasting Light.” In total, they’ve achieved a whopping 25 Grammy nominations. Who says rock is dead?
The 30-second ad debuts tonight (Jan. 31) on CBS, but you can watch it first, at the end of the page. The commercial starts with a midair shot looking over a glitzy, adorned city, all in gold. Foo Fighters’ track “Bridge Burning” starts rocking in the background, and pretty soon, you see the guys slowly appear, each bashing out their respective instruments– Taylor Hawkins followed by Grohl, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel and, finally, Pat Smear. The clip ends with the Grammy catchphrase, “We Are Music,” imprinted into the rock creations. Now that’s rock and roll!
In other Foo Fighters news, Grohl has spent the past few weeks recording some tracks with members of ‘80s hair metal band Ratt, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and others. So far, no word on if this is a studio collaboration of Grohl’s latest supergroup, but we’ll keep you posted. Read more about the mysterious collaborations, here.
