Dave Matthews Band Announce 2012 Tour and New Album
Band set to play over 40 dates on their upcoming 2012 U.S. tour
Dave Matthews Band are known for their massive summer touring, and in that tradition, the guys have plotted out a lengthy tour for this summer– the band’s first proper U.S. run since 2010. The gigantic trek crosses over 40 dates, setting off in May 18 in the Woodlands, Texas, and closing out Sept. 9 in Mountain View, Calif. Several of the stops include back-to-back dates, since shows are expected to sell out. As for openers, the roster changes throughout the tour, but acts slated to play with Dave Matthews on select dates include the Avett Brothers, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Delta Spirit, Fitz and the Tantrums, Gary Clark Jr., Tower of Power and more.
Fans who are members of the band’s official fan club may purchase pre-sale tickets starting Thursday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. ET via the club’s official website. Public on-sale begins Friday, March 9. For more details on the tour, including full ticketing information, please visit the Dave Matthew Band’s official site.
The guys have also announced that they’re working on the follow-up to their 2009 studio release, “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King,” with producer Steve Lillywhite. Will the new set be out in time for the band’s 2012 run? It’s a good bet. Expect more details on the new album to drop in the coming weeks.
