Epica’s new album, ‘The Classical Conspiracy,’ arrives March 9

Holland symphonic metal outfit Epica are revving up to release the follow-up to their 2009 album, “The Classical Conspiracy.” To get fans pumped for the release, the metal connoisseurs have posted the lyric video for “Storm the Sorrow,” the first single off the upcoming release. Check out the video at the bottom of the page.

“Requiem for the Indifferent,” which is set to arrive March 9 via Nuclear Blast, features the band’s popular orchestral flourishes, metal edge and lead singer Simone Simons’ smooth, flowing vocals, providing a mix of classical and metal that’s both dramatic and stirring. “Along the way I find myself / To be confined within me / My place where all the others mind to interfere / To press the meaning of it all / To overcome my limits / And dance away from any void and empty tasks,” Simons sings in “Storm the Sorrow,” with her warm, agile high register.

The 13-track album, which is Epica’s fifth full-length, was recorded at Gate Studio in Wolfsburg, Germany, under the guidance of Sascha Paeth. The band will hold their official CD release party March 16 at 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands. No word yet on a North American tour, but we’ll will keep you posted on tour updates.

Epica are also releasing a series of videos that give a sneak peek of tracks off “Requiem for the Indifferent” each week leading up to the release. Check out the teaser videos and find more information on the release via the metal group’s official website.
