The Black Keys talk food on upcoming TV show

The Black Keys spend most of their days (and nights) traveling the country, playing killer blues-rock jams, but they still have time to enjoy some good eats. As it turns out, singer Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney like BBQ, and the guys are taking that liking to the small screen.

The Black Keys will stop by celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain’s Travel Channel show, “No Reservations,” and in the forthcoming episode, the duo get cozy with some BBQ with Bourdain while touring through Kansas City.

Curious? The Travel Channel has posted a three-minute clip of the show on their website, and it shows Auerbach and Carney picking up Bourdain in the same van that appears on the cover of their latest album, “El Camino.” The threesome drive over to a local stop called Woodyard Bar-B-Que, where they offer up some crazy stories about eating on tour and, of course, share some great BBQ.

“When we first started touring we had $5 a day we could each spend on food,” drummer Patrick Carney said, in the clip. “Dan though would usually save his money to go eat won-ton soup.” Singer Dan Auerbach added, “I welcome that bowl of soup over some sort of weird burger patty that’s just, like, unidentifiable and gross.” We think that sounds, er, great.

The latest “No Reservations” show featuring footage of the Black Keys is schedule to air on Monday (April 16) at 9 p.m. ET on the Travel Channel. In other Keys news, the band is set to headline Lollapalooza 2012 in Chicago this August.
