Green Day Announce Release Dates for Trilogy of Albums
Pop-punk guys Green Day will release two new albums this year and one next year
Green Day have kept busy over the past few years, especially considering the gents have launched their own Broadway musical, “American Idiot,” and organized a national tour for the show, to boot. Now, much to their fans’ delight, Green Day are getting back to the basics and have announced details on their upcoming album (make that three albums), the follow-ups to 2009’s “21st Century Breakdown.”
In a post on Green Day’s official website, the eternally young pop-punk dudes have announced the release dates for their upcoming trilogy of albums, named “¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!” The band will release the first two discs this year and one in 2013.
“¡Uno!” will arrive on September 25 in the United States, and “¡Dos!” will follow on November 13 in the U.S. The set’s final installment, “¡Tré!” will reach retail stores and online outlets on Jan. 15 of next year. Pre-sale for the albums will begin soon, here.
What to expect from this trilogy of albums? Green Day say they’re shooting to put out something incredibly inspiring, according to one of the band’s teaser videos, which states that band members “are at the most prolific and creative time” in their lives.
“This is the best music we’ve ever written, and the songs just keep coming,” they said in the video. “Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels.” (Photo credit: Anne Erickson.)
