South African rockers Seether book late-summer, early-fall U.S. tour dates

Shaun Morgan and the guys of Seether are busy supporting Nickelback this summer, but come fall, the guys will go out on their own. Seether have announced their very own headlining tour, billed the “Triple Threat Tour,” which will also feature opening acts Sick Puppies, Kyng and, on select dates, Eye Empire and Young Guns.

The trek sets off Sept. 20 in Boston and currently runs through Oct. 20 in Detroit, but more dates are expected to drop soon. The band is out supporting their current album, 2011’s “Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray.”

On top of touring with Nickelback this summer and planning their headlining tour, Seether are debuting their first music festival this year, and it’s for a good cause. “Rise Above Fest” is scheduled for Sept. 3 at the Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion in Gilford, N.H., and proceeds will support the National Alliance on Mental Illness organization in New Hampshire, which provides assistance to people of all ages influenced by mental illness or serious emotional disorders. Other bands slated to play include Buckcherry, Black Stone Cherry, Puddle of Mudd and Otherwise. (Photo credit: Anne Erickson.)
