As I Lay Dying Unveil ‘Awakened’ Cover Art
As I Lay Dying release their new album, ‘Awakened,’ in September
It’s out! The new cover art for As I Lay Dying’s upcoming full-length, “Awakened,” has arrived, and it’s as eerie as expected, with the band’s trademark skull complimented with a creepy black butterfly. View the artwork, which was Metastazis with Tiffanie Uldry, below.
“Awakened” is set to reach stores on Sept. 25 on Metal Blade Records. At the moment, the chaps are still finishing up work on the disc with producer Bill Stevenson, who has played drums with Black Flag and the Descendents and produced albums by Rise Against, the Casualties, Anti-Flag and more. The release is the follow-up to As I Lay Dying’s 2011 compilation album, “Decas.” Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Napalm Death) is mixing the set.
As I Lay Dying are on the Rockstar Mayhem Festival this year, which kicked off last night (July 30) in San Bernardino, Calif. Other bands on the bill include the Devil Wears Prada, I the Breather, Slipknot, Anthrax and Slayer, among many others.
In a recent interview with Audio Ink Radio, guitarist Nick Hipa described some of his favorite tours with As I Lay Dying. “They all stick out, but for different reasons,” he said. “Some fests like Ozzfest stick out more, because we were so stoked to be on tour with Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Mastadon and Arch Enemy. Those are all bands we really look up to. On Warped Tour, I remember hanging out with so many cool bands. All of the shows have their place in my heart.
“One that was all-encompassing was Soundwave in 2008 in Australia. Playing with Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Alexis on Fire and Incubus and having a few days off in a random city Australia. You can’t beat that.”
