Primus Extend 3D Tour, Ready Vinyl for Record Store Day Black Friday
Primus prepping 10″ vinyl single for Record Store Day’s Black Friday event
Les Claypool and his bass-driven rock band Primus are adding dates to their latest North American tour, and the new stops include a special New Year’s Eve gig in San Francisco. The group just dropped the news about the extended tour, which take Primus through various California cities in support of their latest full-length, “Green Naugahyde.”
Primus’ new jaunt kicks off on Dec. 27 at the Balboa Theater in San Diego and then makes a second stop at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on Dec. 29. Then, Primus will wrap up 2012 with a two-night stint at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco on Dec. 30 and 31. In other band news, with Christmas up ahead, the guys are prepping a 10” vinyl single for this year’s Black Friday Record Store Day initiative. The single will offer live versions of Primus songs “Jilly’s on Smack” and “Eyes of the Squirrel” off Green Naugahyde, and the vinyl will be released at exclusively at independently-owned record stores on Nov. 23.
Claypool produced, engineered and performed on Primus’ latest LP, “Green Naugahyde,” and he recorded the set in his personal studio, Rancho Relaxo, in Northern California. “Green Naugahyde” totes Claypool, long-time guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Jay Lane.
