Florence + the Machine Singer Performs with the Rolling Stones
Florence + the Machine frontwoman Florence Welch took the stage with the Stones tonight
Florence Welch toured with blockbuster rock group U2 last year, and now she can say she’s rocked the stage with another major player: the Rolling Stones. The Florence + the Machine frontwoman joined the Stones on stage during their London show at the 02 Arena last night (Nov. 29), and she belted out the Stone classic “Gimme Shelter” alongside none other than Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. Watch a video of the occasion below.
Welch is sharing the Stones limelight with Mary J. Blige and Jeff Beck, who made headlines when they performed with the Rolling Stones during their concert earlier this week. As for Welch, she came decked out in velvet, wearing an Austin Powers-inspired outfit. She even pulled out the trademark Mick Jagger jig at the end of the performance. Eric Clapton also made an appearance with the Stones last night.
Florence’s gig with the legendary rockers comes in the middle of her European tour, and her next stop is Germany. Her current trek wraps up Dec. 12 at the O2 in Dublin, Ireland. As for the Stones, they hit the U.S. in a couple weeks for shows Dec. 8 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Dec. 13 and 15 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
