Shinedown Singer Brent Smith Talks New Single, ‘I’ll Follow You’
Shinedown frontman says band’s new single is about friendship
Shinedown already have two chart-topping rock singles off their current album “Amaryllis” in “Bully,” “Enemies” and “Unity.” Now, the Florida rock boys have announced that “I’ll Follow You” will be the newest single from the album. Singer Brent Smith says the song is about your “best friend” and the relationship and bond you share with that comrade.
“It’s a song about just really reflecting on how lucky you are … to have that person in your life,” Smith told ARTISTDirect via a video interview. “No matter what you guys go through … they’ll be a mutual respect between the two of you and your lives will coincide forever.” As for when to expect to first hear the song on the radio, Smith says “I’ll Follow You” will hit the airwaves at some point in January.
Shinedown recently announced they will co-headline a tour with Three Days Grace next year in support of “Amaryllis.” The jaunt, which also includes Christian rap-rockers P.O.D. on the bill, will set off Feb. 1 at the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill., and hit over a dozen U.S. cities before wrapping up on Feb. 20 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass. Smith previously stated the guys were pumped to get back on the road next year: “Shinedown prides itself on always taking our live shows to the next level and giving our fans everything they want– honest, emotional and incendiary performances.” (Photo credit: Anne Erickson.)
