Ministry Guitarist Mike Scaccia Dead at Age 47
Ministry guitarist Mike Scaccia has been pronounced dead at the age of 47
Ministry guitarist Mike Scaccia has passed away at the age of 47. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Scaccia was pronounced dead by a medical examiner Sunday (Dec. 23). As for the cause of death, the medical examiner listed it as “a sudden heart attack brought on by a heart disease.” The death happened after Scaccia reportedly experienced a seizure Saturday night during a show with his other group, Rigor Mortis, during singer Bruce Corbitt’s 50th birthday party in Fort Worth, Texas.
In a message on Ministry’s official Facebook page, Ministry Al Jourgensen stated, “I just lost my lil’ brother and my best friend…Mikey was not only the best guitar player in the history of music, but he was a close, close, close part of our family – and I just lost a huge chunk of my heart today. I have no words to express what this guy meant to me, my family, my career…Everything!”
Scaccia started his legacy as a guitarist playing for Rigor Mortis from 1983 until 1989, after which he joined industrial metal band Ministry. He has laid down guitar lines on four of Ministry’s albums but wasn’t a regular touring with the group. The staff of Audio Ink Radio is keeping Scaccia and his family in our prayers during the difficult time.
