My Bloody Valentine are getting closer to releasing their follow-up to 1991’s ‘Loveless’

According to their official Facebook page, My Bloody Valentine has finally finished mastering their highly-anticipated new album. What a Christmas week surprise! The forthcoming album will be the follow-up to the band’s 1991 release, “Loveless.”

As for the vibe of the new album, My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields previously told NME that the new release is something that will connect with people.

“I think with this record, people who like us will immediately connect with something,” Shields said. “Based on the very, very few people who’ve heard stuff – some engineers, the band, and that’s about it – some people think it’s stranger than ‘Loveless’. I don’t. I feel like it really frees us up, and in the bigger picture it’s 100 per cent necessary.”

No release date for the upcoming set has been announced yet, but the band has a few tour dates set for Japan, Australia and the UK in 2013, including Japan’s Tokyo Rock Music Festival in May.
