The Sound City Players are slated to rock this year’s South by Southwest festival
In a move that’s not super surprising, Dave Grohl has announce that he’ll bring his Sound City Players to this year’s South by Southwest music festival for a gig. Grohl is already slated to be the keynote speaker at the festival, which takes place on March 14 at Stubb’s in Austin, Texas.
The Sound City Players is a group comprised of some of the musicians who appear in the Foo Fighters frontman’s newly-released “Sound City” documentary. Joining Grohl for the show will be Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Rick Springfield, Fear frontman Lee Ving, Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, Queens of the Stone Age multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes and Masters of Reality’s Chris Goss. Opening for the Sound City Players will be the Meat Puppets.
Beginning today at 4 p.m. ET, Citi card members who snag the “Sound City” documentary on Blu-ray via CitiPrivatePass.com will score free tickets to the South by Southwest show. Other fans attending South by Southwest will gain access to the concert via a lottery that will take place during the festival.
