Ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr says he’s planning to write a memoir in the next few years
Former Smiths vocalist Morrissey has a new autobiography out, and now, ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr is ready to dish on his end of the tale. Marr has announced he will release his memoirs sometime in the next few years and is ready to start writing as soon as all of his musical projects wrap up.
“I’ve had so many offers and so many people advising me that my story is worth it, but I understand it’s something that I have to do,” Marr told Brooklyn Vegan. “I’m into from the stance that I want it to be so thorough that I don’t make a record or tour whilst I was doing it. It is gonna happen, and I’ve already made an agreement with a publisher for it, so I will get it done.”
Right now, Marr’s plate is pretty full. The musician is working on the score for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which will reach theaters on May 2. The soundtrack will also feature collaborations with Incubus guitarist Michael Einziger, Eurythmics guitarist and producer Dave Stewart and rapper Pharrell Williams.
