Primus Back with Classic Lineup, New Album and Tour
Primus are back and ready to hit the road this fall
Primus frontman Les Claypool has been busy with his side projects as of late, but the bass icon has regrouped with Primus’ classic lineup of guitarist Larry Lalonde and drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander to release a new album and tour this fall.
“Primus and the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble” will arrive on Oct. 21 and serve as a tribute to the 1971 musical, “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.” Pre-orders for the album are currently available via iTunes.
“I don’t think it was until ‘Jaws’ came along that I was more obsessed with a film,” Claypool told Rolling Stone, “when I started drawing sharks all over my binders and notebooks. Prior to that it was everything’Wonka.'”
“Primus and the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble” will mark the first recording to feature the classic Primus lineup since 1995. The album will also come on chocolate-colored vinyl and offer five golden ones spliced in at random, in tribute to all things Willy Wonka. Fans will also have a chance to get their tastebuds on a Primus favorite: signature Primus candy bars made by Pennsylvania’s Asher’s Chocolates.
