Smashing Pumpkins’ touring lineup will feature some familiar names

Smashing Pumpkins are creeping closer and closer to the release of their new “Monuments to an Elegy,” and that, of course, means a tour is ahead. While only a few tour dates have been announced for the Pumpkins’ upcoming itinerary, frontman Billy Corgan has revealed who will be on the road with him when the group does announce a bigger run.

Corgan has dropped the news that Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk and the Killers bass player Mark Stoermer will tour with the Smashing Pumpkins. Corgan and Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder will round out the lineup for the band’s December shows.

“We’re absolutely thrilled and humbled to have Brad and Mark helping us out with these shows,” Corgan said. “And if our rehearsals are any indication, they should be one-of-a-kind.”

The Pumpkins’ December tour dates include a few stops in Europe, as well as a Dec. 8 concert at New York’s Webster Hall, a Dec. 13 show at Las Vegas’ Brooklyn Bowl and a Dec. 14 performance at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas radio festival. The band will also perform Dec. 10 on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Meanwhile, the band’s new album, “Monuments to an Elegy,” will arrive on Dec. 9. The album features illustrious Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, although Lee wasn’t available to tour with the group this year.
