Stone Sour Planning to Release Two More Covers EPs
Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor says the band will record two more covers EPs
Corey Taylor and the guys of Stone Sour just released an EP called “Meanwhile in Burbank” for Record Store Day, and Taylor says the band has already decided to record two more five-song EPs of cover tunes. The frontman told Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta about the upcoming cover sets on Jasta’s podcast program, The Jasta Show.
“The second one’s called ‘Straight Outta Burbank,’ and the third one’s called ‘No Sleep Till Burbank,’” Taylor said on the show. The titles seem to be references to N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton and the Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep Till Brooklyn.”
“Meanwhile in Burbank” has Stone Sour performing covers of songs by Judas Priest, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath and KISS. Taylor said the upcoming EPs will center around completely different handful of performers.
“The next album, just to give you a little hint, it’s got everything from Bad Brains to Mötley Crüe on it,” Taylor said. “And then the third one is going to probably have everything from Violent Femmes to Rage Against the Machine.”
In other news, Taylor’s other band, Slipknot, has announced a North American tour with Jasta and Hatebreed. The trek will kick off April 29 in Pensacola, Fla.
